Size-A-Matic tools are recommended when
part specifications require smooth finishes, extreme dimensional
control (roundness or straightness), or an enhanced work hardening.
The Size-A-Matic tool will do in seconds operations that can take
several minutes of grinding, honing or polishing and will do it
better.
The Size-A-Matic tool imparts two actions on the surface to be worked
at the same time. These actions are peening and rolling which, in
effect, forge the rough machined surface into a smooth, and hardened
finish. This operation removes no material allowing for very close
tolerances and produces a clean, burr-free piece of superior strength
and density eliminating the friction, grit, burrs and feathered edges
often associated with alternative processes.
Hardening rollers rotating around a cammed arbor rise and fall at a
rapid rate. The tool expands and contracts delivering up to 200,000
blows per minute to the surface of the work piece. As the tool
rotates, the blows are evenly distributed over the part surface
resulting in the accurate, super-smooth finish required.
