Size-A-Matic Tool Selection and Ordering Information
In selecting a Size-A-Matic tool, it is important to know the
appropriate build-up diameter. All metals have a “memory” and the
build-up is the effective diameter needed to obtain a specified size
in a given material. The build-up diameter is measured with the rolls
diametrically opposed on the high sides of the cam and is equal to the
maximum part diameter plus a spring-back allowance.

The dimensions given in the chart above are to be used as starting
points. Actual build-up dimensions are determined after trial and
several extra sets of rolls in .0001 (.0025 MM) increments are
recommended. |

SIZE-A-MATIC TOOLS ARE AVAILABLE IN THREE STYLES
Thru-hole, Semi-bottoming and Bottoming.
TO ORDER SIZE-A-MATIC TOOLS
Please print off and complete
the Engineering Data Request
form.
Specify part diameter and material or the build-up diameter. Select the style
of tool and give the shank requirements. It is strongly recommended that
additional sets of rolls in .0001 (.0025 MM) increments are purchased with
original orders to provide for final tool adjustment and to compensate for
tool wear.
For tools over 1.000 (25.40 MM) diameter, multi-step
Size-A-Matic tools, or applications which may require additional features, a
part print is requested to accompany the inquiry. All drawings will be held in
strict confidence.
