Roll-A-Matic Adjustability &
Interchangeability
All Roll-A-Matic tools feature a unique,
spring-loaded, pinned adjustment assembly. Adjustments are
accomplished without the use of any tools and without removing the
burnishing tool from the drive spindle. This allows the user
greater tool flexibility and less down-time. Roll-A-Matic tools
consist of two basic assemblies:
1) Adjustment Assembly which allows diameter adjustment and
provides the drive.
2) Mandrel or Race Assembly which does the actual rolling.
Adjustment - Standard internal and external tools
are adjustable in .0001 increments. Simply pull back on the
spring-loaded ring, lock pins are disengaged and the adjusting
collar can be easily rotated to achieve the desired tool size. One
hole position on the ring represents .0001 on diameter. Allowing
the ring to move forward to its working position engages the lock
pins and secures the tool for operation.
Adjustment Ranges - The adjustment ranges of the
Internal ROLL-A-MATIC tools are as follows:
RAM - 188 thru RAM - 242 -.001/+ .008
RAM - 250 thru RAM - 484 -.004/+ .017
RAM - 500 and up -.004/+ .037
Interchangeability - Standard internal tools are
built with four standard adjustment assemblies. Each adjustment
assembly is designed to accommodate a series of tools that work
within a given size range. The mandrel assemblies of all tools in
a given size range are interchangeable and use the same adjustment
assembly. This interchangeability feature can help to keep tooling
costs INTERCHANGEABILITY down by eliminating the need to purchase
an entire tool when a new size tool is required. Standard internal
tools can be supplied with self-feeding cages for hand operations
or with non-feeding cages for machine fed operations. Bottoming
style cages are also standard and are supplied on request or where
required. Standard bottoming tools are available starting at .250
diameter.
